Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the ones about honesty.

Will this make my résumé say things that are not true?

No. We rework, reprioritize, and reword your real experience to match a posting. We do not invent employers, titles, metrics, or skills. If a job wants something your background does not support, we tell you rather than fabricate it.

How is this different from just using a general AI chatbot to rewrite my résumé?

We research the specific company and role before writing, apply applicant-tracking-system formatting best practices automatically, generate a matching cover letter in the same pass, and give you an honest gap report. Then we stay with you past the application: a fit check before you apply, a defensibility check on what you'll have to back up, interview prep, a spoken mock interview, follow-up emails, reminders, and tracking for your whole pipeline. A general chatbot does none of that by default, and will not stop itself from embellishing if you ask it to.

Can it tell me whether a job is even worth applying to?

Yes. The "Should I apply?" fit check gives you an honest rating and score, what's in your favor, and where you fall short - before you spend the time tailoring an application.

Can it help me prepare for the interview, not just apply?

Yes. For any interview you've landed, it builds a prep sheet - company recap, likely questions and how to approach them, questions to ask, talking points, and a readiness checklist - grounded in the exact résumé and cover letter you submitted. You can then run a full mock interview to rehearse.

Do I have to talk out loud for the mock interview?

No. There's a text-only mode where the questions and feedback appear as text. If you do use voice, an interviewer asks your questions aloud and you answer by speaking - it works in any modern browser. Your spoken answer is sent for transcription and comes back as text; what we save is the written transcript, not an audio recording.

Will it write my thank-you and follow-up emails?

Yes. From your tracker you can draft a post-interview thank-you, a polite status check, a graceful withdrawal, or an offer reply - grounded in the company, role, and your notes, and ready for you to edit and send.

What if the job wants a skill I genuinely do not have?

We will not invent it. Instead, you get an honest note that this is a gap, so you know where you stand and can decide how to address it in an interview or cover letter, or whether the role is a real fit.

Can I edit the résumé and cover letter after it is generated?

Yes. What we generate is a strong, tailored starting point grounded in your real background, not a final locked document.

Does this work with any applicant tracking system?

We format using widely applicable ATS best practices, single column layout, standard section headers, keyword alignment. No formatting approach can guarantee compatibility with every system, but this approach is built to maximize it.

What file types can I upload for my résumé?

PDF and DOCX, or you can paste your résumé as plain text.

Can I import a job posting from a link instead of pasting it?

Yes. Paste the posting's URL and we'll pull in the text for you. It works for publicly accessible postings; some sites (LinkedIn, for example) block automated fetching or require a login, so if a link will not import, just paste the description text instead - that always works.

Where is my data stored, and who can see it?

Your account and content are stored in our database with row-level security, so your data is accessible only from your own signed-in account. Data is encrypted in transit and stored in the United States. We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising or cross-site trackers. You can export or permanently delete your data at any time from the Account page. For the full detail - including the specific service providers we use and how they handle your data - see our Privacy Policy.

Does my data train the AI models?

No. The AI providers that power the Service operate under business API terms stating that content submitted through their APIs is not used to train their models. We also do not sell your data or use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for the details.

How much does it cost?

You can start with a free trial - a few tailored applications, no credit card required - so you can see it work first. Paid plans are Starter at $19/month and Active Search at $35/month, with a quarterly option that saves about 20% ($15 and $28 per month, billed quarterly). If you need more room in a given month, you can buy a one-time add-on (extra applications or mock interviews) instead of upgrading. Full details are on the Pricing page.

Do you offer refunds, and how do I cancel?

You can cancel anytime from your Account page or the billing portal; cancellation stops future renewals and you keep access through the end of the period you have already paid for. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and fees (including one-time add-ons) are non-refundable. Add-on credits do not expire while your account is active.

Is there a team or career-services plan?

Yes. Our Team / Career Services plan is built for bootcamps, universities, outplacement firms, and other groups supporting multiple job seekers, with expanded access and all features included. Reach out through the Pricing page or the Contact page and we'll set you up.

Can I use this for a career change into a field I have not worked in before?

Yes. This is one of the strongest use cases: repositioning real experience for a different direction, honestly, without inventing a background you do not have.
